Below are the three categories of photography locations we allow. Korea is full of incredible photo opportunities, but this month we are keeping it limited to three groups. If you have any questions, email me!
Jeju Island - Category 1
Jeju Island was formed from volcanic activity and rises all the way to the top of Mount Halla, which stands at an astounding 6,398 feet with a lake resting in the center of its crater. The island stretches 40 miles from east to west and 16 miles from north to south, making it relatively small. Jeju is incredibly biodiverse, home to nearly 10,000 species—3,340 plants, 5,000 land animals, and 2,160 types of marine life. I call this place my favorite and most recommended destination because once you feel the air, see the palm trees, and taste the native oranges, there's no turning back.
Gangwon-do - Category 2
Gangwon-do is one of the most stunning regions in Korea for nature photography. Known for its towering mountains, quiet streams, dense forests, and diverse wildlife, it offers endless opportunities for capturing the beauty of the outdoors. This province is a peaceful escape from the busy city, giving photographers space to relax, breathe, and reconnect with nature. Many of our club members visited Gangwon-do this month, and it quickly became one of our most popular categories. Whether you love dramatic landscapes or simple natural details, Gangwon-do provides unforgettable moments that truly showcase Koreas natural beauty.
Changgyeonggung - Category 3
This month, another beautiful photo spot many photographers discovered is Changgyeonggung Palace. Walking through the palace makes you feel like royalty. Its buildings are painted in vibrant colors, restored to reflect how they looked in the 1400s. Its incredible to imagine that something so detailed and stunning was created centuries ago. How did they gather the materials and craft such precise, intricate designs? From the historic structures to the cobblestone path leading inside, its amazing to think of the kings and queens who once walked those same steps. Experiencing Koreas beauty through places like this is truly an honor.
